Let’s Build Your Dream Garden Together

Plan

To clarify the planting design, I aim to provide detailed planting plans, including plant types, locations, and quantities, plus optional maintenance info and visuals of all plants and trees.

Design

For many people, creating the perfect garden is all about plants and flowers. I understand how different plants work together to create a balanced and attractive look that requires as much or as little work to maintain as you are comfortable with.

Maintenance

I provide Advanced Garden maintenance. I can offer you maintenance service or give ongoing advice on maintaining plants. I can also provide maintenance schedules which guide you through each season on what to do in the garden.

Design Services

Perhaps you are happy with the existing design of your garden, but not with the types of plants. If this is the case, at Kats Gardens I offer a plant design service without changing the structure of the garden. This can be a cost-effective solution.

When I produce a plant design I aim to create a beautiful and harmonious design that meets the needs, skills, and interests of you, the client. The planting design aims to provide the garden with interest all year round or at a particular time of the year. Planting design complements and enhances the overall appearance of your garden whilst taking into account the type of soil and the aspect of the garden. All design plans are hand-drawn.

Kats Gardens can organise the sourcing of the plants and carry out planting.

An initial consultation is the first step

I will visit your garden to discuss your brief ideas and what you would like to achieve from your garden. I will consider the soil condition, look at the aspect of the garden, measurements. Lastly, we decide on the style of planting we are going for whether this be rambling cottage style, Mediterranean, formal/clipped, hot tropical, woodland…the list goes on.
This part is completely free of charge and without any obligation.

First Stage Plans

Armed with this information I start pre-selecting plants which meet the site-specific requirements, creating a list of trees, shrubs, climbers, perennials (including grasses), and bulbs. The list contains a picture of the plant, a short description, and a Latin name.

Design process

Now the actual planting plan can be designed, mapping the plants onto a scaled plan of the planting areas in your garden. A labelled circle is drawn for each plant, representing the plant as its mature size (or the size we intend to keep the shrub or tree pruned to). The planting plan would show a colour scheme, numbers of plants, seasonal interest, and key plants.
